The AMWC Funeral Fund Pty Ltd is a Special Purpose Not-For-Profit organisation established in February 2013 as a subsidiary of the Australian Muslim Welfare Centre Inc. (AMWC Inc). The Fund operates as a contributory funeral fund to support registered members with funeral expenses. Annual contributions are pooled and recognised as a provision for future funeral benefits. Upon a member’s death, these funds are applied to cover dignified, Islamic-compliant funeral services. This gives you and your family an affordable financial safety net and peace of mind, all in accordance with Islamic law.
What Does It Cover?
Up to $8,000 for funeral and burial costs, including:
• Transport of the deceased
• Washing and shrouding (kafan)
• Funeral director’s fee
• Gravesite and burial in our nominated Muslim cemeteries
• Temporary grave marker
Who Can Apply?
• Open to any Muslim who is an Australian citizens or permanent residents aged 18 years or older, up to a maximum
age 74. Family membership includes applicant’s spouse and dependent children under the age of 18.
• Temporary and special memberships available (conditions apply).
Membership Details
• Annual, age-based contributions, payable up to age 84
• 28-day cooling-off period for cancellations
• Waiting periods may apply
• You must inform the Fund of any changes in family status (marriage, divorce, births, etc.) within 4 weeks

• Applications may be rejected if eligibility criteria are not met
• Membership may be forfeited for:
o Missed payments
o False or misleading information
o Practices against Islam
Cover begins once your eligibility is confirmed, your application is approved, and your first contribution is paid. In addition
to serving registered contributory members, the Fund is committed to serving the wider Muslim community. It has a plan to
build, buy, and administer a funeral parlour according to Islamic law, and to acquire or manage Muslim cemeteries to
uphold Islamic burial practices.
